Beautiful spring weather and a new location proved a success for the annual March for Babies walk that took place last weekend in Ocala.

“In these tight economic times we were very pleased with the amount we raised,” said Gloria James, community director of the March of Dimes’ Marion County satellite office. “Everything went very well.”

She credits the walk’s success to this year’s honorary chairman Frank DeLuca and the great teamwork among many fundraising teams.”Mr. DeLuca did a fantastic job of rallying the local business leaders and keeping our mission in view of the community,” she said. “Teams were great about sharing ideas of what worked well and didn’t work well. It was great to see everyone working together for a good cause.”

The annual event, which drew about 4,000 walkers to the Baseline Road Trailhead Park, raised approximately $400,000 for the March of Dimes.
